“Right before Christmas, we got very close to our vision with REVIVAL”, says Henrik Wirén, Managing Director at The Institution. “On December 17 our partner Brightpoint shipped 712 Samsung Galaxy S to Swedish Railroads (SJ). These devices were shipped to 23 different locations and by January 5 they were in use with e-mail, security and a Line-Of-Business application.”
When the user received their device, they unpacked it and inserted the SIM-card. Then, they logged in to a SJ-branded REVIVAL SelfService site, registered their device with REVIVAL and downloaded e-mail settings, security settings and TrAppen, a business application for on-board personnel.
“The first great thing here is that no one at the IT-department touched these devices”, Henrik Wirén continues. “The second thing is that 712 phones delivered, set up and secured only generated 13 % support calls and it took in general 10 minutes per device to get going. This is what REVIVAL is all about, lowering the administrative burden at the IT-department, while making it easy for the end-user to setup and use their phone.”
SJ, the “Swedish Railway”, is the biggest passenger train operator in Sweden. Because of an increasing mobility and a growing respect for the environment people today tend to travel more and more by train compared to other means of transportation. That is to say, SJ as an organization is today experiencing a propensity to grow even bigger than it is today.
Every day, 100,000 people travel with SJ, the largest train operator in Sweden. 5,400 employees (2010) work to ensure that journeys by train are safe, reliable, comfortable and convenient.
“SJ has today more than 5000 employees, which from a mobile phone usage perspective means a lot of mobile phone devices and consequently high costs”, says Tomas Leideborg, responsible for telephony at SJ. “With this in mind and the fact that this is a growing organization, but also with the growing flow of information dissemination in mind, it’s easy to understand the costs and difficulties that come with administrating and handling mobile phones in our organization”.
SJ’s and The Institution’s collaboration first started 2009 and since then employees at SJ have started to use REVIVAL. A customized solution has been created and established to suit SJ’s needs all the way through the mobile phone’s life cycle. From the logistic of ordering and delivering to support for the end user and to asset controlling of the devices.
SJ uses REVIVAL Mobile Management Suite for Asset Management, Backup/Restore, Security and Applications Deployment. SJ has rebranded REVIVAL SelfService and that site is accessed via SJs intranet and serves as the main source for information on all issues regarding telephony.
“Working with REVIVAL has saved us time in all aspects of telephony, ordering devices is more efficient, support calls are fewer and handled faster and both users and IT-administrators are glad for ease of use and security”, Tomas Leideborg concludes.
