K-Rauta, a Do-IT-Yourself Warehouse uses REVIVAL Device Management Suite to get an increased control over their mobile phones and their wireless terminals.
Wireless mobile terminals are used for inventory, ordering and other logistics handling in all K-rauta warehouses. When goods are to be ordered, the staff uses bar-code scanning and enters the right amount to be ordered in his or hers mobile terminal. This increases accuracy in the ordering process and shortens the time for delivery.
When goods are delivered, every item is checked and scanned with the same terminal. The solution is based on a self-developed inventory and logistics program called K-rauta Pocket, this program is in turn connected to the backend systems through a wireless network. This gives everyone using the system a real-time snapshot of how things are going.
When K-rauta in January 2008 set out to find the right tool to manage an increasing number of terminals they finally choose REVIVAL.
For K-Rauta, REVIVAL means simplified administration and increased control. Before, we had to travel to each store to be able to do updates or to fix even simpler tasks, says Otto Beronius, IT-manager at K-Rauta. With REVIVAL we have greater flexibility and we will save both time and money.
For the mobile phones used both inside and outside the warehouses, REVIVAL gives K-rauta a more secure solution and the possibility to help employees with their mobile e-mail setup without them having to walk by the IT-department.
Moving forward, K-rauta is planning to implement mobile solutions for all countries where they are present. Using REVIVAL means that the IT-department can stay in one place, but they will still be able to manage devices in Finland, Sweden, Norway, the Baltic countries, Russia, and Belarus.
For The Institution, K-rauta is the only customer so far that uses REVIVAL without a GSM-radio, and this is another proof that REVIVAL is carrier agnostic and that the platform can be easily adjusted for any mobile solution.
